Why do we all care so much about these sort of lists when realistically, no list is ever going to be to everyone’s likings? Sanders and he should have switched places. When I reached this part of the book I found my jaw stuck to open as I found players like Criss Oliva SavatageWillie Adler Lamb Of God and Peter Wichers Soilwork being relegated to a mere listing as opposed to being included in the main portion o the book.

In my opinion, As far as Mustaine at the top, I don’t think it’s a bad choice because he has a truly well-rounded body of work. This book is no mere list for geeks, though. Some of his solos are better than Hammett solos greatesf doesn’t rely too heavily on the goddamn wah pedaland his riffs are crushing.

The guy may not have been able to write very memorable solos but he was a great rhythm guitarist and his pnches definitely added flavour to the riff. The author also makes some compelling points on why certain guitarists are excluded. In the end there were too many glaring omissions and too many off the beaten path choices made but again such a list boils down to personal opinion and many are bound to both agree and disagree with the author.

I had to admit that this one really left me confused even though I tried to see where the author was joek from with it. Perhaps he should have at least jole up a sentence or two about each of these fine musicians because only naming them came off to me as unacceptable. And personally I’d like to see Joe from Gojira a little higher Just a personal bias, Art of Dying is one of my favorite riffs of all time.
