However, Rand’s objectivist ethics created a maelstrom by offering a very cogent, but different pro-free market argument. If you want exposure to the ideas, but you don’t want to go find the full works of these authors and thinkers, this is the book for you.
David Boaz is executive vice president of the Cato Institute. If you want to get a good sampling of what it is to be libertarian and what readings and authors helped to create and influence livertarian, then this is a good primer to go.

I have long been an admirer of Isabel Paterson and was delighted to see the piece entitled “The Humanitarian with the Guillotine” which is an essay taken from her masterwork, The God of the Machinein which she attacks the pervading ideology that the primary justification for ones existence is to do good for others.

This book for me is an excellent reference with a thorough sample of all the libertarian thinkers over the centuries. Rdader you for signing up, fellow book lover! I didn’t read this cover to cover but I skimmed through and read many of the essays.
